Dr Marlon Perera 

A/Prof Perera is an Australian-trained Urological Surgeon, accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) and the Urologic Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ). He has a special interest in urologic oncology and completed two-years of additional training in robotic surgery at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre (MSKCC) in New York. A/Prof Perera obtained a Fulbright Scholarship during this time, becoming the first Australasian urologist to be awarded this scholarship. During his tenure at MSKCC, he was awarded the 'Clinical Research Award', awarded for the most outstanding research contribution at MSKCC in 2022/2023.

 A/Prof Perera is actively involved in clinical research and completed a PhD (Urology) through the University of Melbourne. He has published extensively with over 200 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and frequently presenting at international congresses. He is currently the Chair of the Prostate Cancer Outcomes Registry (PCOR) for Victoria.


Dr Benjamin Thomas 

Mr Benjamin Thomas MBBS (Melb.), PGSQIL (Harvard), MPhil (Cantab.), FRACS, FRCS (Eng.), FACS

 Benjamin Thomas is a consultant urological surgeon at Royal Melbourne Hospital specializing in urological oncology surgery including robotic surgery and is a senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne. He completed robotic and urological oncology fellowships at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge (UK) and the Karolinksa Institute, Stockholm (Sweden). He has postgraduate research and management degrees and qualifications from the University of Cambridge and Harvard University.

 He was the Clinical Lead for Robotic Surgery and Chair of the Urology Cancer Specialist Multidisciplinary Team in Cambridge.   He was Co-Chair of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Penile and Testicular Cancer Forum and Multidisciplinary Team. He has been involved in robotic surgery development and education as a proctor and consultant with Intuitive, CMR Surgical and Medtronic. He is currently on the Court of Examiners for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.


Dr Chun Loo Gan

Dr Chun Loo Gan is an Australian trained medical oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Chermside and Icon Cancer Centre Greenslopes. In 2011 he completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Melbourne and subsequently undertook basic physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Dr Gan later commenced advanced medical oncology training at Monash Medical Centre and Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Victoria. He undertook a 12-month clinical trial fellowship at Monash Health Translation Precinct and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2018.

 Dr Gan is a strong advocate for research and clinical trials with a particular interest in genitourinary and gastrointestinal cancers and melanoma. In 2019 he completed a two-year genitourinary oncology fellowship at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary, Canada, under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Heng, the founder of the International Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Database Consortium (IMDC). As the IMDC fellow, Dr Gan led multiple international collaborative research studies in advanced renal cell carcinoma and immunotherapy. He presented his research work at international and national meetings and received several awards including two prestigious Merit Awards from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Novartis Oncology Young Canadian Investigator Award. Dr Gan has also completed a Masters in Cancer Sciences at the University of Melbourne with a particular focus in cancer immunotherapy.
