Ruth Delaney - Ireland

Ms Ruth Delaney, FRCS is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder surgery and an Associate Clinical Professor at University College Dublin, Ireland. She attended medical school in University College Cork, Ireland and went on to undergo orthopaedic training on the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston, USA. She completed shoulder fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital under the guidance of Dr. JP Warner and also in Lyon, France with Dr. Gilles Walch and Annecy, France with Dr. Laurent Lafosse. She returned to Ireland in 2014 to begin her shoulder practice in Dublin at Sports Surgery Clinic and at Beacon Hospital, founding the Dublin Shoulder Institute in 2018. Her practice is a fully subspecialised practice, focused entirely on the shoulder. She is shoulder consultant to a professional rugby team (Munster Rugby) and takes care of many high level athletes as well as taking care of a variety of complex degenerative shoulder problems. She was the first surgeon in Ireland to perform a superior capsular reconstruction, to perform a pyrocarbon hemiarthroplasty and to use mixed reality technology for shoulder arthroplasty. She is an active researcher, and in 2014 won the Neer Award for work on shoulder instability surgery. She is a member of the American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons (ASES) and a committee member of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder & Elbow (ESSSE/SECEC). She is a founding committee member of the Irish Shoulder & Elbow Society (ISES). She is Deputy Editor for Shoulder and Elbow Research at the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.


Francesco Franceschi - Italy

Born in Rome, Prof. Franceschi graduated as Medical Doctor in 1990. He completed his residency program in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the Catholic University of Sacred Heart – Rome in 1995. He has developed a special interest in shoulder, knee and hip surgery. Prof. Franceschi is currently working in Rome (Italy) at the San Pietro Hospital – Fatebenefratelli.  

He has been involved for almost 20 years at the Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital in outpatient consultations, surgical procedures, research and teaching, becoming in 2016 Director of the Upper and Lower Limb Surgery Department.  Prof. Franceschi is member of multiple scientific societies ( SIOT, SICSeG, SIAGASCOT, ESSKA, SECEC, ISAKOS). He has more than 100 articles in the peer-reviewed literature in addition to several book chapters. He has presented his research in numerous occasions at national and international meetings.  Over the years he has gained several international experiences both in the USA, Canada and Europe, dedicating himself to Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty surgery.Associate professor at UniCamillus.


Lionel Neyton - France

Lionel Neyton, MD is a french orthopaedic surgeon specialized in shoulder surgery. After completing his residency program in Nancy, he ran a one-year shoulder fellowship with Gilles Walch in 2003. He then joined Pascal Boileau’s department in Nice, France for three years of junior practice. He joined Gilles Walch at Centre Orthopédique Santy in Lyon in November 2006. His practice is fully dedicated to shoulder surgery with specific interest in arthroplasty (surgery and design), clinical research and education.

He received honors such as Corresponding membership of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons society and Honorary membership of the Korean Shoulder and Elbow Society.He was selected for the Travelling fellowship SECEC/ASES in 2014 and is the 2018 winner of the Grammont Award of SECEC.

He is member of the French Shoulder and Elbow Society (SOFEC), French Orthopaedic Society (SOFCOT), French Arthroscopic Society (SFA) and European Shoulder and Elbow Society (SECEC) and Member of the Collège Français des Chirurgiens Orthopédistes et Traumatologues. He is part of the Executive Committee of the SECEC and serves as actual Treasurer.
