At age 56, Dr. Mireia Esplugas has dedicated more than half her life to the world of Hand and Wrist Surgery, concentrating her professional activity in Barcelona and Tarragona, Spain.

Since 2011, Dr. Mireia Esplugas has dedicated many hours to the research of the Anatomy and Biomechanics of the Hand and Wrist, and further attending many courses and conferences around the world to learn the latest techniques in the field. By teaching and publishing articles or chapters in books and magazines of the specialty, both national and international, she is able to share her extensive knowledge accumulated during the years, benefitting may Hand Surgeons and Patients around the World.

With an extensive list of personal experience, outstanding academic achievements, publications and conferences, Dr. Mireia Esplugas has been awarded the Emmanuel B. Kaplan Award 2014 for the communication presented at the Annual Congress of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), Boston (2014), the Award for the best communication at the XXI SECMA congress together with the Scandinavian Society of Surgery of the Hand, Palma de Mallorca (2013) and the Prize for the best communication at the 22nd FREMAP International Traumatology-Orthopedics Symposium, Madrid (1995). She is also a current member of over 8 private medical associations. Dr. Mireia Esplugas is also passionate about outdoor sports.
