Techno Practicum College March 2026: Back to the future for cardiac surgery?

After years of consideration and speculation TAVI is now widely implemented and joining the ever-expanding range of transcatheter interventions.

While cardiac surgeons will have to adapt to the evolving cardiac landscape and fall out of these procedures, the future of cardiac surgery may well depend on improving what we already do well such as long-lasting coronary revascularisation, valve repairs, congenital heart disease, efficient treatment of dysrhythmias, treatment of aortopathies etc. Our ability to provide one stop concomitant treatments will also count where cutting no corners matters!

Techno Practicum College has now been well incorporated into the very limited Australia and New Zealand Cardiothoracic Surgical educational landscape. It is recognised as a truly independent educational forum and over the years has significantly contributed to the evolution of cardiothoracic surgical care in ANZ. TPC 2026 will be our 7^th standalone forum.

TPC is one of the very few venues in Australia where there is significant and genuine interaction between CT surgeons and interventional cardiologists.
